Monk and his OCD

This weekend, i had a "monk" marathon... i watched the entire 1st season of the TV series Monk -- the show about a detective with suffering from OCD (obsessive complusive disorder) which was aggravated by the death of his wife.

I have always liked watching mystery / detective TV series since i was a kid and i have grown to love watching Monk along with Zoe buzek and the CSI. Anyways, what set this apart is that the protagonist is such a brilliant man but he cannot function in the "normal world" due to his OCD... He has a fear of just about everything -- germs, crowds, heights and even milk. However, his OCD does not keep him from solving cases that leaves the police baffled.

I first watched this series on cable (Star world)and has been hooked on it ever since... any way, i wonder if i could get hold of season 2 and 3? Anyone knows if I could find it in Quiapo?

-------------

Watching Monk reminds me of someone quite close to me (hi chi! hi ma!) though they dont have OCD, they can be so organized sometimes (my mom is a certified pack rat) that i drives us up the wall. hehehe.. although lately i have come to the realization that some organization is welcome to make things / life easier -- just not to the extreme, to the point that it keeps you from functioning "normally".

holy week

Tomorrow, March 23, is the official start of the 5 day holy week vacation for the public sector. Why the holiday on Wednesday? Malacanang issued a directive declaring Saturday a non-working holiday and urging the private sector to have no work on Wednesday to give people more chance to reflect on the significance of the week. Well, I don't know if the most will really take the time off to reflect, what I know is that most will be using this time to have that much looked forward to vacation -- this can mean a lot of things...partying on the beach or spending time with family.

Which means, all roads leading to the beach / province will be full -- actually some might just have an early start by starting their vacation last Saturday to avoid all the rush and the traffic. I am pretty sure that beach resorts and hotels have jacked up their prices in time for this season. The high season has officially started this week.

Since most of the residents of Metro Manila will be going out of town, it will be the one of the few days in a year where traffic will be light and it will only take you 30 minutes or less to go from point A to point B -- a metro driver's dream!

It will also be the week where my sister and I are scheduled to do the "spring cleaning" and finish the job that we have started two weekends ago. At least the sala has a new coat of paint and choice paintings were already hung on the wall. Our home is starting to look like a couple of mature (!?) individuals are living there and not some college kids... Our next project (courtesy of my dear dad, will be the kitchen). Now, if only we could keep the house organized, clean and in order. hehehe... The new messies manual, Procrastinator's Guide to Good Housekeeping is book that i think we could all benefit from. hehehe.

What does the 5 day break mean to you? For me, it gives me the chance to do some stuff that i have put off for a while, it also gives me a chance to read the book I have longed to read, watch the first season of monk / the movies that i missed.

kapuy!

The weekend seems to pass by in a blur… I guess any day does when you have so many things to do with so little time to do it.

Imagine having only 2 days to pack, and move stuff from 2 places (moving stuff out of 2 home and moving it to 2 locations) as well as to arrange the house and make it livable again... hay kapuy! Makahapus! nakakapagod.
Kulang ang dalawang araw para maayos lahat ang gamit... as of today, there are a few more boxes left unopened. Feeling ko, pati this weekend / holy week vacation, ang gagawin lang namin ng sister ko ay mag ayos ng bahay.

Atchie, help! hehehe

water!!!

It's day 5 of the water holiday in my village... I think i might as well stay somewhere else this weekend.

Thursday, March 03, 2005

the week that was

1. No water (hindi n naman nag bayad ang mga homeowners sa village! unfair! pano naman kaming nagbabayad on time?!) This is truly unfair to homeowners like us who pay on time. WHY do we have to suffer when others don't pay their dues? This is the second time in two months that this happend.

I do wish that live somewhere else, somewhere where each individual's actions are not and cannot affect his neighbors. Why can't our village have individual water meter collection and billing from MWSS rather than have a common water meter? What gives? Now we are at the mercy of water delivery trucks... now if only the homeowners (esp. those who did not pay or have illegal connections) realize that this is more expensive than paying the monthly water bill. Pinoy talaga, kung pwedeng manlinglang o makaisa, gagawin talaga!

Solution: staying with friends for a day or two or stay at the condo while it is not being rented yet. Good thing that the tenant will move in 3rd week of March... i have til the 12th or 15th to use the condo... the problem is it's too far away from my office. I spend twice or trice as much in transportation alone. Hmmm, let me work out my schedule (day one in manila, day two qc...day three?)

2. Headaches that last for 3 days. Yup, i am suffering from this headache (bk nga migraine n ito) for the last 3 days. To make matters worst, I have PMS plus the fact that my faucets are bone dry since Monday.

3. Spending some time with friends. The only good thing that came out of this water holiday (!) is I get to spend some time with friends. Hey who wants to adopt me for a day or two? will cook dinner and do some chores.

More up dates tomorrow...
