holy week

Tomorrow, March 23, is the official start of the 5 day holy week vacation for the public sector. Why the holiday on Wednesday? Malacanang issued a directive declaring Saturday a non-working holiday and urging the private sector to have no work on Wednesday to give people more chance to reflect on the significance of the week. Well, I don't know if the most will really take the time off to reflect, what I know is that most will be using this time to have that much looked forward to vacation -- this can mean a lot of things...partying on the beach or spending time with family.

Which means, all roads leading to the beach / province will be full -- actually some might just have an early start by starting their vacation last Saturday to avoid all the rush and the traffic. I am pretty sure that beach resorts and hotels have jacked up their prices in time for this season. The high season has officially started this week.

Since most of the residents of Metro Manila will be going out of town, it will be the one of the few days in a year where traffic will be light and it will only take you 30 minutes or less to go from point A to point B -- a metro driver's dream!

It will also be the week where my sister and I are scheduled to do the "spring cleaning" and finish the job that we have started two weekends ago. At least the sala has a new coat of paint and choice paintings were already hung on the wall. Our home is starting to look like a couple of mature (!?) individuals are living there and not some college kids... Our next project (courtesy of my dear dad, will be the kitchen). Now, if only we could keep the house organized, clean and in order. hehehe... The new messies manual, Procrastinator's Guide to Good Housekeeping is book that i think we could all benefit from. hehehe.

What does the 5 day break mean to you? For me, it gives me the chance to do some stuff that i have put off for a while, it also gives me a chance to read the book I have longed to read, watch the first season of monk / the movies that i missed.
