another increase, another burden

As if increase in electric, gas, and food prices are not enough, the LTFRB gave in to the clamor of jeepney drivers and operators. This came after a series of oil price increase as well as the staging of a transport strike last month. (see full story here.)

It seems that everything is going up, up, up! Lahat n lang tumataas maliban sa mga sweldo. I mean, i know that the jeepney drivers and operators need to earn a living, but i do wish this "cute" government would be sensitive to the plight of the working sector.

When was the last time government raised salaries of its workers? If i remember correctly, since the "cute" president took office (legally or other wise) it NEVER did. How could an employee who earns P10,000.00 gross be able to get by? P10,0000 a month is not enough. It's purchasing power is not the same as before! With increases in basic utilities such as water and electricity, I'm sure that a bulk of it would go to payment of these ultilities.

It seems that the public is being bleed dry, not only by the government through its taxes (inefficient collection as well as graft) but by multinationals and other sector. No wonder more and more Filipinos are looking else where for jobs and other opportunity.
