perception

There is no such thing as an unbiased or an objective opinon. Our judgement is always clouded by what we see or what we intended to see and retain. We only see what we like to see, hear what we like to hear and retain what we want to retain.

Our perception is shaped by what we hear, read, feel and process. I am guilty of this. We have one way or another asked for advice from family and friends on a particular subject or person. They told us what they feel but in the end we still do what we want to do. We only retain the information and advice that we wanted to hear from them - what we want them to reinforce for us.

Unfortunately, what we retain or percieve is not always the right thing or the best thing for us. There is a blind side to this perception. Out of the positive things that a person has shown us, we tend to retain the negative the most. We do not remember how one person made our lives better or how much love he has shown us, instead we remember the hurt we went trough and the betrayal. We do not notice the hundred act of kindness, instead we notice the bitter exchance of words. This is such a sad reality...
